Arizona Wildcats freshman forward Grant Jerrett is expected to play today against California, after missing one game with a stress reaction in his left foot.
Jerrett went through early warmups this afternoon at McKale Center and UA officials said Jerrett would play after he practiced all weekend with the Wildcats. Jerrett initially felt pain on Feb. 2 at Washington State and was held out of UA’s game against Stanford last Wednesday.
UA coach Sean Miller said Friday that Jerrett would play today as long as he was able to practice Friday, Saturday and during Sunday’s pregame shootaround without pain.
“It’s just that we wanted to make sure initially that we knew exactly what was going on with his foot,” Miller said, “and that the pain that he would have would start to decrease, which it has.”
The Wildcats’ top post reserve, Jerrett is averaging 20.0 minutes per game in Pac-12 play. In those conference games, he is averaging 3.3 points and 4.4 rebounds.
