Just some random notes and links on a rare calm April day (so far, at least...)

--

Andre Roberson has scheduled a news conference Friday to announce whether or not he's leaving for the NBA. With Roberson, Colorado could be the second-place pick behind Arizona next season.

--

Kyle Fogg and the Vipers will open D-League championship play at Santa Cruz tonight at 6:30 p.m. (CBS Sports Network). Matt Brase said Santa Cruz has an amazing homecourt atmosphere in its small venue so we'll see if that translates on TV.

--

UCLA granted guard Allerik Freeman a release from his LOI.

--

Had forgotten that Mark Phelps, one of the possible candidates to replace James Whitford at UA, was one of the many defeated by Sean Miller in free-throw shooting.

--

Gary Parrish wonders if Mike Dunlap might find a spot as a basketball sage on somebody's staff -- maybe even Josh Pastner's.

There's an interesting look at Dunlap's short tenure in the Charlotte Observer.

 --

Mike DeCourcy has an argument against a 30-second shot clock.

--

The Pac-12 Networks has a new chief who will handle the DirecTV negotiations.

---

if you missed it, here's a link to UA's latest recruiting video, about the game day experience at McKale.

 --

Steve C wondered on a previous discussion thread what Josiah Turner's NBA stock might look like. I will check on this more as the spring goes on but would imagine he might at least get a shot at an NBA summer league team. He has shown flashes of NBA talent, and finished the Canadian season strongly, but obviously has to prove a lot on and off the court.

(BTW, Turner apparently received a warm greeting after his jail stint ended).

--

Lots of comments about UA's roster and recruiting on the previous discussion thread.
