Sidiki Johnson has pushed his official visit back to Oct. 23-24 in order to see the Wildcats' Red-Blue scrimmage at McKale Center, according to his mentor, Bernard Bowen.

"Sidiki wanted to see a game and get a feel for the environment," Bowen said today.

The Red-Blue game is not quite typical of UA's usual homecourt environment --- UA announced a crowd of 8,100 last season in front of Ray McCallum and issued a release saying that http://www.arizonawildcats.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/092910aab.html" target="_blank">tickets are available for this season's game -- and because it is not part of the season ticket package, it attracts a somewhat different crowd. However, many of the fans unable to get good seats for regular-season games are enthusiastic.

In any case, it's not like Johnson is wavering. Bowen said he's "on a mission" to move up in his career and recently hosted Sean Miller and Book Richardson at Oak Hill for an in-home visit.

Miller and Richardson didn't have to make the difficult trek to Oak Hill, since Johnson is committed, but Bowen said the effort "shows you the type of people they are."

Bowen said the UA staff has become "like family," with the New York-bred Richardson providing a valuable link.

"In my opinion, Book is one of the top assistants in the country," Bowen said. "A lot of people think it's just Xs and Os but there's other stuff too."
