Junior college standout guard Kadeem Allen has committed to the Arizona Wildcats, according to one of his coaches at Hutchinson Community College of Kansas.

Allen took an official visit to Arizona over the weekend and didn’t need long to make a decision, Hutchinson assistant coach Jay Cyriac told the Star this morning.

“He was excited about the visit,” Cyriac said. “He said, `That’s the place for me.’ “

A 6-foot-3 sophomore combo guard from Wilmington, N.C., Allen was named a junior college all-American and MVP of the Kansas Jayhawk Western Division as a freshman last season, averaging 17.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists. Brad Winton of JucoRecruiting.com said he’s likely a top-5 or top-10 junior college player this season.

Allen received a scholarship offer from Kansas just before taking his visit to Arizona this weekend, and has also received attention from ASU, Memphis, Marquette and others.

Allen will join two high school players in the Wildcats' 2014 recruiting class so far: Point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright of Los Angeles and power forward Craig Victor of New Orleans.

Arizona is expected to add two or three more players between the fall and spring signing periods to its class.
