As USC appears to have proven, it doesn’t take a trip to Las Vegas for players to find trouble.

So for Arizona Wildcats coach Sean Miller, spending the week at the MGM Grand may not bother him any more than anyplace else.

“It’s just we all have to be able to handle that -- teams, players, coaches and families -- and understand why we're going,” Miller said. “There’s a responsibility that we have to represent the University of Arizona, the history of his basketball program, and most importantly compete for a coveted tournament.”

Miller said he supported the idea of moving the tournament to Las Vegas after an 11-year run at the Staples Center, where crowds were often far less than capacity in the early rounds and if UCLA was not playing well.

“Las Vegas is such a destination city and so many people enjoy going there whether there’s a sporting event going on or not,” Miller said. “You combine that with the fact you have this competitive tournament and it’s the first basketball games ever played at the MGM Grand, and to me, it’s exciting and it’s going to be exciting for years to come.”

Andre Roberson said it meant a lot to receive the Pac-12's defensive player of the year award.

More evidence that competition to be a Pac-12 all freshman was tough this season: Utah's Jordan Loveridge wasn't even named honorable mention.

From the UA transfer files:

-- MoMo Jones fought through an illness to come up with 33 points in Iona's MAAC victory.

-- Daniel Bejarano was given the Mountain West's sixth man award.

-- Jeff Withey repeated as the Big 12's defensive player of the year.
