Rich Rodriguez is at it again.

The Arizona Wildcats coach landed another high-profiled quarterback tonight when former Scottsdale Chaparral star and University of Texas transfer Connor Brewer committed to the UA.

"Offensively, it's a quarterback's dream to play in their system and chuck the ball around and do everything Coach Rodriguez likes to do," Brewer told the Star tonight. "After visiting and seeing the facilities and talking to the coaches, it was a no-brainer to stay close to home."

Brewer said he hopes to enroll at the UA as early as this week and could be with the team for the start of fall camp on Saturday. He also visited UCLA and San Diego State and had other visits lined up, but said he knew he wanted to come to the UA after visiting.

The quarterback was rated as the seventh best QB in the country coming out of Chaparral by ESPNU and started in the 2012 Under Armour All-American Game.

He committed to Mack Brown and Texas during his junior year of high school. Brewer then redshirted his first season for the Longhorns and decided to transfer after spring drills.

Although he’s not a typical Rodriguez dual-threat QB, he does have ties to the UA. His former high school coach Charlie Ragle now coaches tight ends for the Wildcats. Brewer’s former high school teammate Davonte’ Neal, who attended Notre Dame out of high school, is also now at Arizona. Neal committed to the UA in April and should be eligible in 2014.

Brewer will have to sit out this season and will first be eligible to play in ’14.

"I'll have a great opportunity to at least have a chance to start," Brewer said. "Coach Rodriguez was really excited that I got on board. He likes me as a quarterback and I think we're going to do a lot of great things together."

The Wildcats will have plenty of options to choose from when Brewer becomes eligible. He will likely join Jesse Scroggins, Anu Solomon, Khari McGee and Brandon Dawkins on the roster as QBs.
