Excuse Rich Rodriguez if he trades in his hot dogs and burgers for some gumbo and catfish this July 4th.

The Arizona Wildcats picked up a commitment today from cornerback Antonio Parks of Reserve, La., — a suburb of New Orleans.

Parks committed to Arizona on Twitter this afternoon, picking the Wildcats over Clemson. He also had offers from Purdue, Arizona State, Duke, Iowa State, Central Florida and others.

Arizona has long been in good position with Parks and felt strong about getting his commitment today.

Listed at 5-feet-10-inches and 177 pounds, Parks is rated as a three-star prospect by the Scout.com recruiting service. He has the size to play an outside corner spot for the Wildcats and the speed to play inside in the slot as well.

Parks is the second Louisiana high school player to commit to Arizona in the 2015 class. Running back Orlando Bradford of Shreveport, La., pledged to the UA in mid-June.

With Parks on board, Arizona now has 16 known commitments for 2015. He’s the fourth defensive back of the class joining Tucson High’s Demetrius Flannigan, Arizona Western safety Paul Magloire and Washington D.C. high school product Sammy Morrison.
