The Arizona Wildcats landed their second commitment of the 2015 class this morning.
Taren Morrison, a 5-foot-10-inch, 175-pound running back from Mesa Desert Ridge High School, pledged to the UA this morning. Morrison was offered by the Wildcats last month when he visited for the program's "junior day."
Morrison is listed as a three-star prospect by the Scout.com recruiting service. Arizona is Morrison's only offer at this point.
Morrison helped Desert Ridge to an 11-2 record last season. He rushed for an eye-popping 2,587 yards on 209 carries and scored 38 touchdowns on the ground. He also had 13 catches for 209 yards.
His commitment is already drawing strong reviews from recruiting analysts, including Scout's Greg Biggins:
Taren Morrison is one of the more explosive backs in the west, can move around/play some slot, unique offense but great fit for what UA does— Greg Biggins (@GregBiggins) March 27, 2014
The Wildcats now have two players on board for 2015. Morrison joins defensive tackle Finton Connolly, who committed to the UA in November. Connolly, who preps at Gilbert Campo Verde High School, is also a three-star prospect.
Connolly had 90 tackles and five sacks last season as a junior. He's listed at 6-3, 250.
Coach Rich Rodriguez has stressed in-state recruiting being vital for the Wildcats and he's showing that again to be true, getting both of his first two commitments for 2015 from in-state schools.
