Defensive tackle Kirifi Taula is no longer with the Arizona Wildcats because of lingering medical issues. The Garden Grove, Calif., native, who had one season of eligibility remaining, missed most of spring drills with a concussion.

Taula played in all 13 games last season as a junior and had seven tackles. He made one start. The 6-foot-4-inch, 265-pound lineman played in 22 games his first two seasons at the UA and had a combined 29 tackles. His most productive season was his freshman year when he had 21 tackles with four going for a loss.

Taula figured to compete for playing time at nose tackle in the fall.

The Wildcats did gain some depth at that position recently. Aiulua Fanene and Saneilia Fuimaono have both officially been added to Arizona’s roster. Fanene and Fuimaono will return this season after serving a mission the past two years. Fanene was added to the roster last month. Fuimaono was added this week.

According to Arizona’s online roster, Fuimaono will wear No. 89 and Fanene will wear No. 98, which was occupied by Tevin Hood last season.

Fuimaono started two games and played in 12 as a true freshman in 2011. He had seven tackles. Fanene played in 10 games and had eight tackles as a redshirt freshman the same season.
