The final day of the NCAA Track and Field Championships was very good to the Arizona Wildcats.

High-jumper Brigetta Barrett and distance runner Lawi Lalang both won national championships this afternoon in Eugene, Ore. The UA women, thought by many to be national championship contenders, finished tied for sixth in the team standings. The Wildcats men finished in 10th place.

Lalang won the 5,000 meters in a time of 13 minutes 35.19 seconds, while Barrett won her third consecutive outdoor title with a jump of 6 feet 4 3/4 inches. Barrett, a senior, has won six combined indoor and outdoor titles during her tenure as an Arizona Wildcat. Barrett was named the Pac-12's Woman of the Year earlier this week.

The 5,000 meters title is the second of the week for Lalang, a junior from Eldoret, Kenya. He won the 10,000 meters on Thursday.
