Sixty-two coaches voted in the preseason USA Today coaches’ poll released Thursday morning.

Predictably, the Arizona Wildcats — receiving just one vote — weren’t ranked.

Florida State was listed as the No. 1 team in the nation after going 14-0 en route to winning the BCS National Championship last season.

The Seminoles received 56 of 62 first-place votes for 1,543 points. Alabama was second with 1,455 points.

Six Pac-12 teams — Oregon, UCLA, Stanford, USC, Arizona State and Washington — are in the top 25 with Oregon leading the group at No. 4. The Sun Devils are ranked No. 18.

Truth is, Thursday’s poll means nothing. The Wildcats are much more concerned about being included in the postseason poll, released one day after the national championship game.

And that’s where today comes in.

The Wildcats — one by one — will report for the start of fall camp today at the Lowell-Stevens Football Facility. Each player will have his picture and weight taken, collect their equipment for the season and sit in on a couple of meetings.

In other words, it’s go time for Arizona.

In order to get in that much more important postseason Top 25, the work begins now.

Arizona will report today, and hit the practice field for the first time this fall on Saturday.

Away we go.
