They're not exactly the Three Musketeers or the Three Amigos, but Trey Griffey, Clive Georges and Jarrell Bennett spend a lot more time together than apart.

The three wide receivers - all redshirt freshmen in 2012 - are trying to find their respective roles on the Arizona Wildcats and make a strong impression this spring.

They all bring something different to the table (more on that later) and are determined to not only improve their game but help each other as well.

"The freshman class, if we want to play, we have to kick it up another level and we all get that," said Griffey, the son of former MLB star Ken Griffey Jr. "We have to compete at every position. Being in the dorms together, we can tell each other what the others need to improve on. Jarrell will tell me something and I'll tell Clive something.

"Another person's perspective can really help out."

As coach Rich Rodriguez has said a few times this spring, wide receiver is probably the team's deepest position. Austin Hill, Tyler Slavin, David Richards, Garic Wharton, Terrence Miller and Johnny Jackson are all ahead of the three freshmen on the depth chart right now.

It gives Griffey, Georges and Bennett more time to develop and provides the Wildcats with depth if injuries strike during 2013.

"What I've seen the most is as they really grasp what we're doing, they're playing faster and look better," receivers coach Tony Dews said. "You see the flashes and when they know what they're doing, they look pretty darn good at times. When they don't, they don't.

"But, it's been really good seeing them progress."

Here's a closer look at the three playmakers.

Trey Griffey

• Height, weight: 6 feet 3, 190 pounds

• Dews' scouting report: "Trey is a big kid and has really good ball skills. He is an extremely hard worker with a great work ethic. Obviously, he has some athletic talents and has some quick feet. In time, he will be a guy who will be a really solid receiver for us. When you're in tight coverage, he has the ability to go get the ball. When he may not be wide open and not outrun somebody by three steps, he's physical enough where he can go and take the ball from defenders. He'll be able to go and make those tough catches and take those hits."

• In high school: Griffey played in the Under Armour All-America game, and caught 73 passes for 970 yards with 11 touchdowns as a senior at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Fla.

Clive Georges

• Height, weight: 6-1, 168

• Dews' scouting report: "Clive possesses speed. He's a very smooth athlete. He runs well. He has done a pretty good job of running routes this spring and catching the ball. He's going to bring an element of speed and quickness outside that will allow us to take the top of coverages off at times."

• In high school: A track star at Key West (Fla.) High School, Georges had 700 yards of total offense as a senior.

Jarrell Bennett

• Height, weight: 5-10, 158

• Dews' scouting report: "Jarrell is coming along. He has decent ball skills. He has the ability to create some mismatches with safety and linebackers, playing in the slot. As he continues to get better, he's been sick on and off and had a hamstring (injury) in the beginning, he's hitting stride and getting healthy. He missed the first three or four practices. He's coming along and doing a better job for us. He's working extremely hard."

• In high school: Bennett, who played at Edna Karr High School in New Orleans, had 1,246 receiving yards over his final two seasons, with nine scores.
