Arizona Wildcats athletic director Greg Byrne and football coach Rich Rodriguez said Sunday they're aware of a restraining order issued to Ka'Deem Carey, the UA's All-America sophomore running back.

Carey was served with an order of protection Jan. 2, according to Tucson City Court records. The petition for an order of protection was issued Dec. 26.

"I've spoken with Ka'Deem and am aware of the case," Rodriguez said in a news release. "We take these matters very seriously and will support the authorities however we can. Once more specific information is available, we will act accordingly."

Byrne said the UA is "fully aware of the situation," adding: "This is now a matter for the local authorities and we will fully cooperate and assist them as needed. At this point we will have no further comment."

Carey, 20, has not been arrested, a Tucson police spokesman said Sunday. A search for Carey's name in city and county databases show no pending court dates.

Carey won the national rushing title this season with 1,929 yards and is a consensus first-team All-American. The Tucson native is a Canyon del Oro High School grad.
