Nick Foles took his first start of the year and ran with it.

For a touchdown, in fact.

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback threw for three touchdowns and rushed for another in Sunday’s 31-20 win over the Buccaneers.

Whether the former Arizona Wildcats star starts again this week is up in the air. Michael Vick, the Eagles’ regular starter, is listed as questionable to play in Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. Vick has been trying to overcome an injured hamstring.

Player of the Week

Eben Britton OT, Chicago Bears

The former UA standout made his first start of the season in last Thursday’s 27-21 win over the New York Giants. Britton was used as a tight end at times during the game and helped the Bears in their pass protection. The start was the first for the lineman since Dec. 9, 2012, when he played for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Britton and the Bears hit the road this week to take on the Washington Redskins.

Four to watch

Lance Briggs LB, Chicago Bears

The ex-Wildcat produced five tackles, including his second sack of the season, in Thursday’s win over the Giants. Briggs has one career sack against the Redskins, who are the Bears’ next opponent.

Nick Folk K, New York Jets

Folk accounted for all six of the Jets’ points on Sunday. The Jets face the Patriots this Sunday: Folk, a former UA standout, has converted 11 of 13 field goal attempts against New England in his career.

Antoine Cason CB, Arizona Cardinals

The UA product picked up his third tackle of the year in last weekend’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Cason and Arizona play tonight against the NFC West-leading Seattle Seahawks.

Robert Golden DB, Pittsburgh Steelers

Golden assisted on two tackles for the Steelers last Sunday in a win over the Jets. The Arizona alum plays against the Baltimore Ravens this week in a Sunday matchup at Heinz Field.

The Big Number

9 Combined tackles by Houston Texans defenders (and former UA teammates) Brooks Reed and Earl Mitchell in Sunday’s loss to the St. Louis Rams. Reed had a team-high five tackles, and Mitchell recorded a season-best four.

Give the Devil his due

Every week, we highlight one former ASU player who’s playing well at the pro level. (Relax, people, it’s just one guy.)

Terrell Suggs LB, Baltimore Ravens

Suggs compiled 10 tackles Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. The ex-ASU linebacker has 46 tackles this season.

She Said It

“All I can say is Robbie is dying to play. He wants to get out there. He’s doing what he has to do to get back playing.”

— Diane Gronkowski, the mother of UA alum Rob Gronkowski, to the Boston Herald. Gronkowski has missed six straight weeks because of an injury. The New England Patriots tight end is expected to remain on the shelf for this week’s game against the Jets.
