For the third time this season, UA product Spencer Larsen has been signed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ roster. The fullback has yet to appear in a game but could see action Sunday, when the Bucs play the Arizona Cardinals.
Dan Buckner also joined the Buccaneers’ practice squad after spending the previous week working with the Cardinals.
The wide receiver was not the only former Wildcat to join an NFL practice squad this week. Linebacker D’Aundre Reed signed with the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad on Tuesday. Reed, who was cut by the Vikings earlier this season, will help the 49ers as they prepare to play the St. Louis Rams today.
Player of the Week
• Lance Briggs, LB, Chicago Bears
The former UA linebacker helped keep the Bears undefeated with five tackles, one sack and a forced fumble in a 40-23 victory over the Steelers. Briggs’ forced fumble led to a recovery and defensive touchdown by Julius Peppers in the fourth quarter. The Bears continue their road trip Sunday with an NFC North Division matchup at Detroit. Briggs recorded seven tackles in two games against the Lions last season.
Four to watch
• Brooks Reed, LB, Houston Texans

The Big Number
Games UA product Rob Gronkowski has missed this season with a back and a forearm injury. The tight end is expected to play Sunday night when the Patriots play at Atlanta.
Give the Devil his due
Every week, we’ll highlight one former ASU player who’s playing well at the pro level. (Relax, people, it’s just one guy.)
Zach Miller, TE,
Miller caught two touchdown passes in Seattle’s 45-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. The former Sun Devil has 17 touchdowns in his seven years in the NFL. The Seahawks play at Houston this week.
He Said It
“I had to get the first down. You saw some
of the spots out there. You never know. Especially,
when you start sliding, they usually (mark the ball)
from where you start. So I just had to make sure.”
Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, on bowling over ex-Arizona Wildcats
defensive back Robert Golden for a first down in Sunday’s win over
the Steelers. Golden was credited with a tackle on the play.
