One week after the 20th annual Los Mezquites Invitational in cross country, Tucson will host another big weekend event, this time in swimming. The 10th annual Speedo Classic begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hillenbrand Aquatic Center on the UA campus.

Of course, there's several other exciting things on the schedule leading up to the big swim meet.

Here's a glance at the upcoming week:

Boys golf: Canyon del Oro will host three of the state's top programs at Oro Valley Country Club. The Dorados welcome a familiar face in Ironwood Ridge and will also see two of the most prestigious teams from the Phoenix area - Chandler Hamilton and Phoenix Desert Vista. Canyon del Oro and Hamilton met Sept. 24 in a four-team match in Scottsdale and the two teams tied for the win at 146. The Dorados' Gentry Hicks and Jaime Waltmire each carded scores of 35. The match is set for a 3 p.m. start.

Football: Cienega has been a roll since losing in Week 2 to Cave Creek Cactus Shadows and will try to keep piling up wins when it travels to Catalina Foothills. The Bobcats (4-1) posted a 56-7 win over Flowing Wells last week and star running back Willie Willis had 191 yards on just five carries. He now has 541 rushing yards on 37 carries, an average of 14.62 yards per carry. Catalina Foothills (2-2) is coming off a bye week and is looking to rebound after tough losses to Salpointe Catholic and Sahuaro. Game time is 7 p.m.

Boys and girls swimming: The Speedo Classic will feature nearly 40 schools from across the state with a total of 1,041 athletes in action. Events start at 10 a.m. and continue until the afternoon, finishing with the girls 400 freestyle relay and boys and girls 1-meter diving. Swimmers can reach state qualifying standards at the meet, something that can't be done at dual meets. Some of the top programs that will be there include Phoenix Brophy, Phoenix Xavier, Salpointe Catholic and Catalina Foothills.
