The preseason high school football All-Southern Arizona team continues today with No. 19 on our list of 22 players.

Check out a video clip on KVOA (Channel 4) tonight at 6 and 10.

The team was chosen by the Arizona Daily Star and the staff at KVOA and will be revealed daily through Sunday.

• Who he is: Physically, Jesse Caldwell is the perfect lineman. He's big, tall and strong but surprisingly quick on his feet. Caldwell anchors a line that blocked for star tailback Ka'Deem Carey last year and helped CDO go undefeated and win a state title. Caldwell has not been recruited much, so Dorados coach Dusty Peace moved Caldwell from offensive tackle to center this season, hoping he draws more interest from colleges. It also shouldn't hurt that CDO is expected to contend for a second straight state title and, if nothing else, Carey should put up numbers that bring the team attention on a national stage.

• Proof he's good: Caldwell is about to prove his versatility by switching to center, a position he's never played before. He's had to adapt to new rules that come with the position, as well as how to snap the ball and how to react to defenses. In the past, Caldwell has made a name on defense by holding his blocks effectively and getting around the corner to pressure quarterbacks. Don't expect either of those skills to change. Carey has big plans with the ball and will look to Caldwell to realize those dreams. This season's goal is 3,000 yards and 50 touchdowns.

• He said it: "I think my size helps me a lot, but I have a lot of the mental game; I know the plays. I'm pretty quick for my size so I have the footwork and everything. Ka'Deem gives us a lot of credit, so I think we get enough (recognition). It's pretty cool; you give him those first 10 or 15 yards and then he's amazing enough to get the extra 100."
