The preseason high school football All-Southern Arizona team continues today with No. 12 on our list of 22 players.

Check out a video clip on KVOA (Channel 4) tonight at 6 and 10.

The team was chosen by the Arizona Daily Star and the staff at KVOA and will be revealed daily through Aug. 22.

Matt Rossi • OT/DT • 6-4, 305 • Sabino, SENIOR

• Who he is: It's tough to miss this behemoth, either on the field or off. Weighing in at more than 300 pounds, Rossi truly is a beast on both sides of the ball. Plus, at his preseason physical, he received some fantastic news from his doctor: an official height of 6 feet 4 inches. As a lineman jockeying for a Division I scholarship, every pound and every inch count. And Rossi's accomplishments last season, along with what he hopes to achieve this year, should not hurt in getting him noticed. As a junior, an only slightly less-monstrous Rossi blocked for Keanu Nelson and Stephen Fraser, who combined for 2,691 yards and 40 touchdowns. The Sabercats advanced to the 4A-I state championship game before losing to Canyon del Oro at Arizona Stadium.

• Proof he's good: His passion might just equate to his size. Almost every day, Rossi said, he watches tape from last year's final regular-season game against CDO, a game Sabino was an onside kick and a Hail Mary away from winning. He studies what he and his teammates did right and wrong, with the hope of achieving a different result in this year's rematch.

• He said it: "I've always wanted to play football. That's been my goal since age 5. Most colleges won't recruit you because you're not big or tall enough, but hopefully, I won't have that problem. Division I is definitely my goal, but however it works out, I want to keep playing football as much as I can."
