The postseason is here.

The first state tournament action of the fall season is set for this week with boys and girls state golf getting under way Friday morning.

Boys and girls cross country also will get in on the postseason fun at sectionals, which are Saturday in Marana and Gilbert.

Here's a glance at the full week ahead as the fall season begins wrapping up.

Friday

• Boys and girls golf: The state golf tournament will begin 7 a.m. at three courses in Tucson. The boys Division I and II tournament is at the Randolph Park Golf Complex. Division I boys will tee off at 7 a.m. and Division II will follow at 11. The girls Division I tournament will also start at 7, at Dell Urich. At 10, the Division II tournament will begin at Silverbell Golf Course. The final round of play is set for Saturday with the same schedule in place for the boys as on Friday. Division II girls will get their final round started at 6:45 a.m., while Division I will go off at 7.

• Boys and girls swimming: Athletes will have one final opportunity to qualify for state swimming when 25 Southern Arizona schools head to the Amphitheater pool for the Southern Arizona Last Chance Swimming and Diving Invitational. Swimmers can qualify for state at invitationals only, not in dual meets, so this meet will give swimmers one more shot to hit qualifying marks before the state meet gets under way Nov. 5. It's a two-day meet with events starting at 9 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday.

Power programs Catalina Foothills, Sabino, Salpointe Catholic and Rincon/University are just a few of the teams expected to compete.

Saturday

• Boys and girls cross country: Teams and individuals will have their first and only chance to qualify for the state meet at sectionals. Southern Arizona schools are in Section III in their respective divisions. There are four divisions in cross country with Division I being the largest. The Sectional III races for Divisions II, III and IV are at Marana High School. Tucson, Sunnyside, Salpointe Catholic, Sierra Vista Buena and Rincon/University, all Division I schools, are the only Southern Arizona schools that will run their sectional meet in Phoenix. That meet is set for Freestone Park in Gilbert.
