At Amphi, the Panthers wanted to show that running back Tony Villa could hang with Flowing Wells’ Dionte Flores, one of the state’s top rushers, and he did. Villa ran for 100 yards to help Amphi (2-1) win its first game of the season.

• Highlight reel: Villa had a 35-yard run to set up Amphi’s second touchdown, a 4-yard pass from QB Ray Holbrock to Jeremy Ford.

• Player of the game: Villa. He had 100 yards on 24 carries and a touchdown as Amphi won its second game in a row.

• By the numbers: The Panthers’ defense held the Caballeros’ Flores to 82 yards on 23 carries. He was the No. 3 rusher in Arizona, averaging 244 yards a game.

• He said it: “We had a great week of practice, and I knew I was going to have a breakout game.” — Villa
