Chandler Seton Catholic 67, Rio Rico 21

At Rio Rico, the No. 2-ranked Sentinels handed the Hawks their second straight loss. Rio Rico (6-4) struggled defensively by allowing five passing touchdowns in the first half. Despite the loss for the Hawks, this is still the first winning season in school history and they still could qualify for the Division IV state playoffs.

• Highlight reel: Rio Rico running back-turned- quarterback Aaron Fanning lofted a long touchdown pass to Dan Gastellum for a 39-yard touchdown to start the second quarter.

• Player of the game: Fanning led the Hawks on offense with 107 passing yards and two touchdowns. He also helped on the ground, rushing for 75 yards.

• By the numbers: 6. Six scoring plays in the game went for 30 yards or more: two for Rio Rico and four for Seton Catholic.

• He said it: “The seniors came into the season tired of the stereotype that Rio Rico couldn’t play football. We changed that.” — Fanning
