At Douglas, the visiting Ravens led by just six at halftime. But Empire pulled away in the second half to improve to 6-4 and hold on to a slim chance at making the Division III state playoffs. Douglas finished 2-8.

• Highlight reel: Empire senior fullback Sean Fitzsimmons scored on an 80-yard kickoff return to start the second half. He was “held” to 148 rushing yards Friday after rushing for 516 yards last week to break the state record.

• Player of the game: Empire senior running back Chance Hatfield had 28 carries for 184 yards and five touchdowns, a week after he rushed for 248 yards.

• By the numbers: 34. The game was tied at 12 before Empire scored 34 unanswered points.
