Kris Heavner has resigned as coach of the Santa Rita football team after one season.

Heavner, 28, told TUSD district athletic director Herman House late Tuesday night that he will be the next head coach at Scottsdale Horizon.

“He personally called me to tell me,” House said. “I thought he was a very good young coach and did a lot of potential to do some great things. When you get an opportunity like Horizon position, it’s a no-brainer.”
