For the third time in as many weeks — and in as many states — the Salpointe Catholic football team rolled to an easy win.
The Lancers trounced host Encino (Calif.) Crespi 47-7 Saturday night, marking the third consecutive game the Lancers have scored at least 40 points.
Salpointe Catholic began to pour it on in the second quarter, scoring 20 points.
UA commit Cameron Denson scored on a 40-yard interception return to make it 17-0. Denson, the Lancers’ star wide receiver/cornerback, caught eight passes for 104 yards and ran six times for 43 yards. He switched to quarterback and scored on a 1-yard sneak.
The Lancers (3-0) have outscored their opponents 144-21 so far this season.
Glendale Joy Christian 28, Pusch Ridge Christian 14: At Glendale, the Lions were unable to overcome five fumbles, four of which they lost. Pusch Ridge Christian tied the game at 14-14 but was done in by mistakes in the second half.
