At Marana, the Tigers (4-3) scored 26 points in the third quarter to break away after a slow start by both teams. The Cougars (2-5) were shut down offensively and were limited to only five first downs for the night in the loss.

• Highlight reel: Marana senior Cecil Colby picked up a fumble by Casa Grande’s Brock Hall and returned it 60 yards for a score that gave the Tigers a 51-7 lead and wrapped up the scoring.

• Player of the game: Marana junior Bradley Gonzales. He accounted for 90 yards on the ground and two touchdowns on limited play due to back spasms.

• By the numbers: 4. The Tigers forced four turnovers, three of which led to scores.

• He said it: “I didn’t want to let down the team, so I had to get back in the game.” — Gonzales, on returning after missing the second quarter.
