Second-seeded Catalina Foothills will begin a quest for its eighth title in nine years when it opens the Division II boys team state tournament Tuesday.

The Falcons (13-1) host No. 15 Gilbert Williams Field at 3 p.m., and they’re not alone. Seven local teams are hosting first-round matches.

Foothills is undefeated at home and perfect against Division II opponents. Its lone blemish was a 5-4 loss to Salpointe Catholic, Tucson’s only team to make the playoffs in Division I.

Get a look at the other nine local teams opening up the state tournament in Tuesday's Arizona Daily Star.
