Tucson's girls basketball teams impressed earlier this week, winning every first-round state playoff games in which a local team played.

Friday, it all evened out.

Local teams went a combined 0-6 in Class 6A, 5A and 4A games. Ironwood Ridge and Canyon del Oro had the unenviable tasks of traveling to the No. 1 seeds in their respective brackets; Gilbert Mesquite beat the Nighthawks, 102-51, while CDO fell 59-32 to Cave Creek Cactus Shadows.

Smaller schools fared better Friday: The Gregory School's boys and girls teams both won, advancing to Saturday's second-round games.
