The Arizona Wildcats are reorganizing their hockey team, announcing today that the squad will be more consistent with other on-campus club sports.

The team will be called the Arizona Wildcats, not Icecats, as coach Leo Golembiewski owns the copyright to the nickname.

Golembiewski, who founded the club and coached for 32 seasons, likely will not return.

The club is conducting a nationwide search for a new coach, according to a UA release, and will be aided in the transition by former assistant David Dougall.

Like the other 30 club sports, the team will be student-run.

Frank Farias, the UA's associate vice president for student affairs, said in a release that "the transition will ensure our ice hockey program is managed by students and is consistent with, and functions like, all other UA club sports."
