• Feat: Costie Merrill won a gold medal in the synchronized swimming duet with partner Tracie Ruiz-Conforto in Los Angeles. Only three nations competed in the event — the United States, Canada and Japan. Costie Merrill was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1995.

• Current: Costie Merrill lives in Overland Park, Kan., with her husband. Together they own Merrill Companies, a real estate firm.
