Rio Rico and Amphitheater each advanced a pair of wrestlers into today's Division III finals in Prescott Valley after the first day of action Thursday.

Sahuarita and Empire each advanced one into the finals.

Amphi is in fourth place in the team standings behind Phoenix Thunderbird, Cottonwood Mingus and Lakeside Blue Ridge.

For the Panthers, senior heavyweight Austin Andrade improved to 52-0 on the year with three pins on his way to the finals. He'll face Gilbert Campo Verde's Matt Sohky in the championship match.

Andrade's teammate Floyd Jones made it to the finals at 220 pounds and improved to 50-3. He'll face No. 1 seed Austin Beanland from Buckeye Youngker.

"Everyone did well for us and I'm real proud of Austin and Floyd," Amphi coach Sam Portillo said. "Austin is 52-0 and he's wrestling like he's 5-0. He just feels no pressure."

For Rio Rico, top seeds Eric Jeong (132 pounds) and Marky Lopez (145) will wrestle for state championships today.

Jeong improved to 35-5 and will face James Sanchez of Tempe in the finals. Sanchez took out Sabino's Matt Repp in the semifinals.

Lopez stands at 38-3 and will see Dilon Lightfoot from Mingus in the finals.

At 182 pounds, Sahuarita's Jorge Robles, a No. 6 seed, advanced to the finals and is now 48-11. Robles will face Blue Ridge's Kevin Henderson in the finals.

Empire's Dirk McOmber, the top seed at 195 pounds also made it through to the finals and improved his record to 43-2.

Tonight's finals begin at 7:30.
