Now that March is here, spring sports are officially in full swing.

All the preseason tournaments are in the books and regular-season action will heat up this week with a couple of big matchups.

However, there are still some tournaments and invitationals to keep an eye on too.

Here's a look at what to watch this week:

Boys volleyball: Catalina Foothills will host Ironwood Ridge at 6 p.m. in its first action since winning the TUSD Invitational on Saturday.

The Falcons went perfect in six games on their way to capturing the title in the 16-team tournament and will try to carry that momentum into the match against the Nighthawks.

Last year when Foothills hosted Ironwood Ridge, the match went a full five sets with the Nighthawks coming out on top 15-9 in the final set.

Softball: Salpointe Catholic will travel to Sahuaro at 4 p.m. in a meeting of two teams that will likely make it to the state tournament.

Salpointe has won three games in a row while Sahuaro has won back-to-back games, outscoring its opponents 35-1. Both teams play on the road Tuesday afternoon.

This will be the first of two meetings for the two teams. They play again on April 24 to close out the regular season.

Baseball: Eight local teams will play in the Dan Moore Classic at Santa Rita over four days this week.

The first three days will consist of pool play games starting at 11 a.m.

The two pool winners will play in the championship game at 7 p.m. on Saturday following three consolation games, which start at 11:30 a.m.

One pool is made up of Santa Rita, Empire, Desert Christian and Rio Rico while the other has Palo Verde, Catalina, Desert View and Walden Grove.
