FC Tucson's run through the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup was stopped tonight by a Dynamo.

Major League Soccer's Houston Dynamo blanked the visitors 2-0 at BBVA Compass Stadium, ending an improbable run for the local amateur team. FC Tucson upset Phoenix FC and the San Antonio Scorpions in the first two rounds, earning a matchup with one of the professional sport's top franchises.

Houston looked the part, controlling possession for most of the first half.  Alex Dixon gave the Dynamo a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute when he knocked in a Mike Chabala cross. Giles Barnes converted on a free kick in the 85th minute to make it 2-0.

The Dynamo advances to the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup, where it will play FC Dallas, another MLS franchise. The teams will play June 12 in Frisco, Texas.

FC Tucson will fly home Thursday, then resume their USL Premier Development League season: The team will take on the SoCal Seahorses Monday at Biola University in Los Angeles.
