Pima College's softball team was eliminated from the NJCAA national tournament by Salt Lake Community College today, and it was a heartbreaker.

Salt Lake's Malia Campus hit an inside-the-park grand slam in the 12th inning to help eliminate the Aztecs on the final day of competition. The tournament wraps up today in St. George, Utah.

Salt Lake (52-10) play #8-seed Wallace State Community College for the NJCAA National Championship at 1:30 p.m. If Salt Lake defeats Wallace State in that first game, a second championship game will be played to determine the winner later Saturday afternoon. Pima CC finished its season with a 50-19 record and a third-place overall finish.

Pima rallied to force extra innings after surrendering two runs in the top of the seventh.

Victoria Mariscal opened the frame with a double, which was followed by an error and a sacrifice to put runners at second and third with one out. Cynthia Pelayo flew out to left field for an apparent sacrifice fly, but the Bruin outfielder threw through to home and the ball got away from Salt Lake catcher Susan Duke, which brought home both runs and extended the game.
