The Arizona Wildcats returned to the ESPN.com/ USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 - albeit in the small print - on Tuesday.

One week after receiving zero votes in the poll and after winning two of three games against No. 5 Arizona State, the Wildcats received eight votes. That was third-most among those teams "also receiving votes," making the UA the de facto No. 28 team in the nation.

The Wildcats received the second-most votes of those outside the Top 25 in the sport's older, other poll: the USA Today/NFCA Division I poll.

The UA starts a three-game series at No. 13 Stanford on Thursday. Seeding for the NCAA tournament will be announced Sunday.
