Mandie Perez capped a seven-run third inning with a grand slam as Arizona beat UC-Santa Barbara 9-0 in five innings Sunday to sweep a two-game softball series at Hillenbrand Stadium.

Shelby Babcock (13-5) earned the win for the Wildcats (26-13), allowing three hits over four innings with three strikeouts. Nancy Bowling pitched the fifth and struck out two.

Arizona's seven runs in the third came with two outs. Kelsey Rodriguez's RBI single made it 1-0 before Chelsea Goodacre delivered a two-run single. Brigette Del Ponte walked and Lauren Young reached on an error to set up Perez's bases-loaded homer to left field.

It was Perez's first career grand slam and fourth homer of the season.

A fielder's choice by Goodacre and a sacrifice fly by Del Ponte scored the UA's final two runs in the fourth.

Babcock walked only one before giving way to Bowling in the fifth. Bowling set down the Gauchos (21-15) in order in the fifth to seal it.

Arizona will travel to face New Mexico State in Las Cruces on Tuesday in a doubleheader, starting at 3 p.m.
