The No. 19-ranked Arizona softball team fell behind Ohio State 2-0 after two errors and a wild pitch in the first inning Friday in Palm Springs, Calif.

And things didn't get much better for the Wildcats (9-4), who lost to the Buckeyes 6-0 at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.

Sunnyside High School grad Estela Piñon took the loss, giving up six runs, four earned, and two walks in 4 1/3 innings.

Piñon was relieved in the fifth inning by Nancy Bowling, who struck out four and allowed only one hit in 2 2/3 innings.

Ohio State's Alex DiDomenico scattered four hits over seven innings for the win, despite walking six.

UA first baseman Hallie Wilson went 2 for 2.

Leading 3-0, the Buckeyes scored three runs in the fifth to pull away, led by a Taylor Watkins' home run to center field.

In its second game late Friday, UA pitcher Shelby Babcock and the Wildcats were leading Loyola Marymount 5-2 after five innings. Babcock had given up only one hit.

Arizona catcher Chelsea Goodacre had two home runs, including a three-run blast in the bottom of the first inning as Arizona took a 4-1 lead.

Goodacre added a solo shot in the third inning.

Chelsea Suitos added two hits for the Wildcats.

The game had not concluded by press time.

The Wildcats will face LSU today at 6 p.m. as the tournament concludes.
