Arizona scored four times in the first inning Thursday and led all the way en route to a 6-4 victory over Utah in Salt Lake City.

In the first inning, Chelsea Goodacre doubled to right, scoring Chelsea Suitos, who had walked. Brigette Del Ponte then singled, and Goodacre scored on a sacrifice fly by Lauren Young. Mandie Perez singled in Kelsey Rodriguez and Del Ponte.

Shelby Babcock got the victory, boosting her record to 11-3. She pitched four innings, allowing six hits while striking out two.

Utah (13-15-1, 0-4 Pac-12) scored single runs in each of the first three innings, but Arizona (22-10, 2-2) added single runs in the fourth, when Alex Lavine reached on a fielders choice, stole second and scored on an error, and in the seventh, when Del Ponte scored on a sacrifice by Rodriguez. Perez and Goodacre finished with three hits each.

The series resumes at 5 tonight.
