The Arizona Wildcats returned to the ESPN.com / USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 — albeit in the small print — on Tuesday.

One week after receiving zero votes in the poll, the Wildcats won two of three games against No. 5 Arizona State and received eight votes. That was third-most among those teams “Also Receiving Votes,” making the UA the de facto No. 28 team in the nation.

The Wildcats received the second-most votes of those outside the Top 25 in the sport’s older, other poll: the USA Today/NFCA Div. I poll.

The UA starts a three-game series at No. 13 Stanford on Thursday. NCAA tournament seeds will be announced Sunday.
