Despite a three-hitter by starter Shelby Babcock on Sunday, the Arizona Wildcats softball team dropped its third consecutive 2-1 game to Oregon State in Corvallis, this time in extra innings.

Babcock (15-9) struck out six over eight innings as UA fell to 28-22 overall, 5-13 in Pac-12 play, getting swept by OSU (30-17, 7-11) for the first time. The Cats, who have lost five in a row, stranded 14 runners on the day, 34 for the series.

With Arizona up 1-0 in the eighth, the Wildcats failed to turn a game-ending double play after a low throw to first base. Then, down to a final out, the Beavers' Lea Cavestany singled in Ashley Sanchez with the tying run. On the throw home from left fielder Hallie Wilson, the umpire ruled catcher Chelsea Goodacre dropped the ball, letting Elizabeth Santana score the winning run.

Arizona broke a 0-0 tie in the top of the eighth when Alex Lavine singled up the middle to score pinch runner Courtney Rodriguez. But the Wildcats went on to leave the bases loaded.
