Michelle Floyd and Shelby Babcock combined on a three-hit shutout as the No. 14 UA softball team rebounded from its first loss of the year to beat Fresno State 8-0 in five innings at the Mary Nutter Classic in Cathedral City, Calif.

Later Saturday night, Nancy Bowling had a perfect game going as the Wildcats (11-1) led No. 11 Nebraska 6-0 after six innings.

Against Fresno State, Floyd scattered two hits over four innings and Babcock gave up one hit. UA took a 2-0 lead in the first on bases-loaded walks by Lauren Young and Mo Mercado. The Cats scored two in the third and four in the fifth, highlighted by Katiyana Mauga’s RBI triple and Courtney Rodriguez’s two-run double.

The UA will face UNLV today at 1:30 p.m. in its tournament finale.
