Arizona senior softball pitcher Kenzie Fowler will have back surgery next week and should be ready for the 2013 season, the UA says.

Fowler will have a procedure to mend a herinated disc in her back that's caused her leg and foot numbness for the last nine months. Extensive rehabilitation has offered only temporary relief, UA coach Mike Candrea said in a news release.

Doctors will perform a microscopic lumbar discectomy next week, and she is expected to make a full recovery in time for the 2013 season, the UA said in the release.
