The California Golden Bears scored seven runs in the first inning and cruised to a 9-1 win over the Arizona Wildcats in six innings Saturday in Berkeley, Calif.

Arizona pitchers issued seven walks, six which ended up scoring as Cal evened the series. The rubber match is today at noon.

The UA (33-9, 8-6 Pac-12) managed just four hits off Cal’s Stephanie Trzcinski (6-6). The freshman walked two and struck out three over six innings.

UA starter Kenzie Fowler lasted only one-third of an inning against Cal (21-16, 4-5). Fowler (7-4) gave up five runs, one hit and four walks.
