Host Memphis shut down the Tucson Padres for the second straight day in winning 4-2 Friday.

The Padres (59-55), two games behind first-place Las Vegas, were held to five hits a day after notching only six.

Chris Robinson went 2 for 4 for the Padres. He doubled and scored in the seventh to cut Memphis' lead to 3-2.

Cameron Maybin, on injury rehab, went 0 for 2 with a walk for Tucson.

Reliever Brandon Kloess (3-5) took the loss, allowing the go-ahead run to score in the fourth inning.

Highly ranked prospect Carlos Martinez (4-2) earned the win, allowing a run in five innings.

Tucson opens a four-game series at Nashville with a 4:35 p.m. contest today.
