The golf state tournament is in the books and this week brings two more state championships with swimming and cross country scheduled to finish up Saturday in the Phoenix area.

On top of that, the volleyball state tournament will begin Tuesday night. The second round follows on Thursday and the semifinals are set for Saturday.

If that weren't enough, the final week of the football regular season is here with some big-time matchups.

Here's a glimpse at three can't-miss events for the week.

Thursday

Boys and girls swim and dive: The state meet starts at the Kino Aquatic Center in Mesa with the preliminaries for Division I. The prelims for Division II will follow on Friday and the finals for both divisions are Saturday.

The diving prelims will start at 9 a.m. both days and the swim prelims are set for a 1 p.m. start. On Saturday, the finals for Division I and II boys start at 11:45 a.m. The finals for girls start at 2:30 p.m.

Catalina Foothills will look to defend its 2009 boys and girls state championships. The Falcons will have more competition this year with the schools split up into the new divisions rather than the old class format.

Friday

Football: Two matchups stand out on Week 11 with Canyon del Oro traveling to play Sabino and Sunnyside hosting Salpointe Catholic. The Dorados are looking to wrap up their second straight undefeated regular season and run their winning streak to 24 games.

Sabino rebounded nicely from its first loss of the season with a 54-0 win over Flowing Wells on Friday and will now look to ruin CDO's finale with a win.

Salpointe is 5-0 in 5A Southern play and a win would clinch an undefeated region season. A Sunnyside win would create a logjam at the top of the standings between Salpointe, Sunnyside and Ironwood Ridge. If Ironwood Ridge beats Mountain View and Sunnyside beats Salpointe, all three schools would be 5-1.

Saturday

Boys and girls cross country: The state meet will start at 9 a.m., with the Division IV boys race. Races will follow each half hour until the final one, the Division I girls, wraps up competition at 12:30 p.m. at Cave Creek Golf Course.

Catalina Foothills' Rex Woodbury, Catalina's Alejandro Montaño, St. Augustine's Nico Montanez, Rio Rico's Aeoleone Bristow, Nogales' K.C. Zuniga and Pusch Ridge Christian's Sarah Macdonald are all coming off victories at their respective sectional meets and will look to add state titles.
