Parents in Pima County have almost unlimited options about where to send their kids to school. Public schools are open to students from outside traditional neighborhood boundaries while charter schools and private schools offer even more choices.

We talked to local moms who told us they mostly find out about schools from friends. Our new school finder tool is as close to a conversation with a friend as you can get.

Try it here:

The tool uses your address to find public schools closest to you but then you can dig deeper, searching for schools that focus on special needs programs for example.

The School Finder uses information from a custom #ThisIsTucson survey completed by about 200 schools in the Tucson area.

There are no rankings and test scores are only one piece in a 20-question survey, allowing parents to make a well-rounded decision.
