There are many TV shows today that seem to be all anyone can talk about. They're winning awards, fan theories about them dominate internet discussion and your friends can't get through brunch without quoting them. Currently, shows such as "Game of Thrones," "Veep" and "Transparent" receive this kind of buzz. But in, say, 20 or 30 years, will they still be as widely heralded as "classics?"
The measure of an iconic TV show is if it can withstand the test of time -- if, after decades have gone by, or even if you haven't even watched it yourself, you still recognize its place in silver screen nostalgia. PrettyFamous, an entertainment data site by Graphiq, found the best classic TV shows.
To do so, PrettyFamous found all TV shows with at least 2,000 IMDb votes that started before 1980 and ranked them. Shows are ranked from worst to best based off of their Smart Rating. This is a score out of 100 that takes into account a show's IMDb ratings and IMDb votes, as well as its Emmy wins. In the case of a tie, the show with more IMDb votes was favored.
