Customs officers seized about 5,500 pounds of marijuana from a tractor-trailer rig crossing at a Nogales port of entry. The drugs are worth about $2.75 million, according to a Customs and Border Protection news release. On Feb. 24, 2016, CBP officers at the Mariposa Commercial Facility found the drugs in the rig that was being driven by a 29-year-old man from Nogales, Sonora. The drugs were in boxes identified as electronic items. Officers seized the entire shipment and turned the driver over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations. The seizure comes less than two weeks after CBP officers seized 17,000 pounds of marijuana at the Nogales port.
