The Department of Public Safety arrested 40 suspected drug smugglers in a four-day operation from Feb. 4-7, 2016, in Pinal and Maricopa counties. The Border Strike Force seized 3,743 pounds of marijuana, two firearms and three stolen vehicles in the operation. The 40 arrests made in the operation included 34 citizens of Mexico, 5 citizens of the United States, and 1 undocumented person from a country other than Mexico. The firearms seized were a military-style rifle and a handgun. The Border Strike Force Bureau’s operation was assisted by the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Border Patrol, Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and others.
