Deal brings Horizon Moving name back to Tucson

Workers unload a truck and carry items into a Tucson warehouse operated by Suddath Relocation Systems in 2014.

Phoenix-based Dircks Moving Services has acquired the assets of Suddath Relocation Systems of Arizona LLC and is rebranding its new properties in Tucson and Phoenix as Horizon Moving & Logistics.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Dircks said most of the staff under Suddath are being retained, and staffing will be increased during the first quarter of 2018.

Florida-based Suddath Relocation Systems came to Arizona in 2013, when it acquired Tucson-based Horizon Moving Systems. Horizon Moving Systems was founded as City Transfer Co. in the 1930s by C.R. Dusenberry and Catherine Moore Dusenberry and run by family members until its acquisition.

Horizon Moving & Logistics will be an agent for United Van Lines, while Dircks Moving & Logistics remains a Mayflower agent, and they will be operated as separate companies, Dircks said in a news release.

Dircks was founded in Phoenix in 1990 and is led by President Chip Dircks.
