Fuel prices edged up in Arizona and were essentially flat on a nationwide basis this week as crude-oil inventories lagged, AAA says.
Arizona’s statewide average gas price rose nearly 2 cents in a week to $2.92 per gallon of regular on Friday, while the national average dropped about a half-cent to $2.91, AAA data show.
Tucson kept the state’s lowest average metro price at $2.68 on Friday, up about a penny for the week. Flagstaff had the state’s priciest gas at an average $3.08 per gallon.
Though a government survey showed oil inventories increasing at a higher-than-expected pace they remain well below last year’s levels, contributing to the highest fall gas prices since 2014.
